A new piece of legislation before the U.S. Senate may create new opportunities for nonprofits to use private sector resources for community revitalization through the Community Block Development Grant.
“For decades, this federal grant program has helped local and state governments address their development needs by improving housing access, ensuring suitable living environments, and expanding economic opportunities,” said Senator Mark Warner of Virginia, co-author of the bill. “It makes sense that nonprofits who similarly play a critical role in providing assistance and resources to these communities should have access to this funding.”
Projects eligible for funding through the Community Development Block Grant Program will be connected with organizations that provide tools and resources devoted to community revitalizations.
