New job opportunities for Kentuckians are on the horizon following the recent creation of the Economic Opportunity Commission by Gov. Matt Bevin. The new commission combines the Governor’s Office of Minority Affairs and the Governor’s Minority Employment, Business Affairs and Economic Development Council together to study the economic barriers facing many Kentuckians today.
“Gov. Bevin and I strongly believe Kentucky will reach its maximum potential when all Kentuckians have opportunities to pursue their individual potential,” said Lt. Gov. Jenean Hampton. “I hope the new Economic Opportunity Commission eliminates economic barriers and helps individuals find paths to success and prosperity.”
Since Gov. Matt Bevin took office, Kentucky has witnessed more than 42,000 new jobs created and $15.4 billion in economic investment. The new commission hopes to build on those numbers by helping minority groups in the Commonwealth.
