The Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet has started a new website for the public-private partnership that will reshape Kentucky’s Capital Plaza area in Frankfort.

Designed to inform the community about the project’s developments, the website includes information about project updates, key project documents and news-related items.

Last October, the build-to-suit selection committee met to select CRM/DW Wilburn #2 LLC of Lexington as the developers to design, build, finance and operate the 385,500-square-foot, 1,500 employee office building. Designs for the new building were released in mid-December, outlining the completion of the project by April 2020.

Implosion planned for Capital Plaza

The new website for the project will publish a series of Q and A’s to keep viewers and the community updated on progress. These first deals with the impacts of the planned demolition of the existing Capital Plaza Tower.

An implosion of the 28-story tower is scheduled for March 11. Recascent Inc. is the demolition contractor, and the company has contracted with Controlled Demolition Inc. to handle the implosion of the 330-foot tower.

Below is a video highlighting some of CDI’s implosion projects.
