Data-driven highway plans are prioritizing transportation projects around the state, according to an article by The Lane Report. The 2018-20 biennium authorizes $2.68 billion for nearly 400 bridge repairs and replacements; 1,275 lane miles of pavement improvements and 230 safety and mobility projects.

The plans have been adjusted to more closely match to Kentucky’s limited revenue stream from the gasoline tax and federal contributions.

Furthermore, these plans reflect the prioritization of the state’s new Strategic Highway Investment Formula for Tomorrow Process – SHIFT – a custom formula designed to evaluate more than 1,100 transportation projects.
