When a city in Silicon Valley announces plans to create a smart city using AT&T technology, there’s lots of pressure for it to hold up to the region’s high standards. But for the community of San Jose, California, the endeavor is worth pursuing.

Through a public-private partnership that will harvest AT&T’s Internet of Things (IoT) technology, the city will deploy updated broadband, LED Smart Lighting, LED Wifi and AT&T digital infrastructure.

“Cities are often tasked with finding solutions to issues like traffic jams, energy consumption, public safety, and many others,” said Michael Zeto, VP of AT&T IoT and General Manager of Smart Cities. “San Jose and AT&T are exploring how a Smart Cities environment will put residents first by solving challenges that are most important to them.”
