P3 Offers Solution for Growing Tennessee Airport

A public-private partnership resulted in a new gateway to the Lebanon Municipal Airport in Tennessee. Named Aviation Way, this new road was a result of a 50/50 cost split between the city of Lebanon, Wilson County Motors and Southstar Development.

Officials tout the new road as providing direct access to the airport from a nearby roadway, increasing ease off arrival and “opening up parcels of land for new development that could include retail, restaurant and multi-family housing.”

City officials feel the airport and the P3 are a win-win for all involved. The airport recorded 27,000 operations in 2017, up more than 400 percent in only 8 years. The Lebanon Municipal Airport was recognized by the Tennessee Aeronautics Commission as Airport of the Year in 2017, beating out 77 other airports, including Nashville’s BNA.
